CHERRY VALLEY, N.Y.- Around 80-100 Buffalo are reported being on the loose in Otsego County.
New York State Police say the Buffalo broke through a fence and are travelling all over the Cherry Valley area.
They also say they have damaged some properties including the Proper family’s and surrounding ones.
Lucy Proper, who says the Buffalo destroyed her Father’s property, told NewsChannel 2: “They’re reeking damage. We’re losing all our second cutting; they are destroying hay bales.”
Proper says that the Buffalo have been out for over four days and she was out of town when she was notified of the Buffalo on her property.
Proper says she wasn’t getting answers at first, but after contacting local authorities, Officers from the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation and New York State Police got involved and are stepping in to help.
NewsChannel 2 has reached out to the owner of the Buffalo, who tells us that he feels good about the plan in place to get the Buffalo back where they belong.
The owner of the Buffalo wants to thank everyone involved, and expects there will be a positive outcome.
