In honor of National Correctional Officers and Employees Week, Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon is looking for nominees to be recognized throughout the 119th district.
Each year, the first full week in May is recognized as National Correctional Officers and Employees Week, recognizing the contributions of correctional officers and personnel who work in jails, prisons, and community corrections across the country.
“As we continue to combat the ongoing public health crisis, it’s more important than ever to recognize the work of those who are putting their lives on the line protect our communities,” said Buttenschon. “Since 1984, the first week of May has been dedicated to recognizing correction officers and employees and thanking them for the difficult and often dangerous work that they do. It’s important that we recognize and honor these brave workers, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Those interested in nominating a correction officer or employee must send their submissions by Saturday, May 9.
Buttenschon is also seeking nurse nominations for her Nursing Recognition Awards.
All entries must include the nominee’s name, workplace and a brief sentence on why he or she has been chosen.
