WKTV -- The Center for Disease Control is recommending that eye doctors and dentists scale back appointments due to coronavirus concerns. Optometry practices are being told to postpone elective procedures, non emergency appointments and routine eye exams to ensure patient and doctor safety.
Dr. John Costello of Costello Eye Physicians & Surgeons has already made adjustments.
"We are trying to just see emergency patients as well as patients that are urgent." Costello says they have put preventative measures in place from limiting time in waiting rooms, to social distancing, to making sure that family members stay in the car during an appointment.
"We are waiting to see that the CDC and other government entities instruct us to do moving forward."
