HERKIMER, NY - Candidates for the 118th Assembly district faced off in Herkimer Saturday for a debate sponsored by the Business and Professional Association of Herkimer.
Republican candidate Robert Smullen went head to head on a variety of topics with Democrat candidate Keith Rubino.

Most of the voters who attended the debate seem to have already made up their minds on who they’re going to vote for.
“I went to school with Keith Rubino,” says Josh Lanza. “I believe no one understands the needs of this community better than he does.”
Michelle Quinn feels she knows Robert Smullen best. She’s his cousin.
“I know where he comes from. I know his values, his morals, and what he stands for. He would be perfect for the position.”
Both candidates are running for the seat being left vacant by Assemblyman Marc Butler, who is stepping down after serving in the Assembly for over 20 years.
