Utica, N.Y. - The Utica Comets roster is beginning to take shape.

The Vancouver Canucks and St. Louis Blues, the Comets' dual affiliates for the season, have assigned a combined 23 players to Utica as they finalize their rosters for the upcoming season, announced Tuesday.

The Canucks sent seven players to the Comets at this time.

They are: forwards Jonah Gadjovic, Lukas Jasek, Kole Lind, and Will Lockwood; defensemen Josh Teves and Jett Woo; and goaltender Jake Kielly.

Gadjovic, Jasek, Lind, Teves and Kielly all appeared in Comets uniforms last season, with Gadjovic, Jasek and Lind as lineup regulars throughout the entirety of the year.

In addition, all six players Vancouver placed on waivers, Monday, have cleared and will now be assigned either to the Comets or the Canucks' taxi squad.

The Blues, meanwhile, have sent 16 players down to Utica, marking the first time the Comets have had any players within another organization besides the Canucks' on its roster.

St. Louis' assignments are: Sam Anas (C), Evan Fitzpatrick (G), Jon Gillies (G), Dakota Joshua (C), Tanner Kaspick (C), Hugh McGing (LW), Curtis McKenzie (LW), Jake Neighbours (LW), Scott Perunovich (D), Evan Polei (LW), Mitch Reinke (D), Steve Santini (D), Nolan Stevens (C), Tyler Tucker (D), Nathan Walker (LW) and Jake Walman (D).

Anas should be a major boost for the Comets' offense this season, after leading the AHL in points with 70 (20g, 50a) in 63 games for the Iowa Wild last season. He was also a western conference all-star selection.

Anas will enter his fifth year as a professional out of Quinnipiac University.

Walker is the first Australian to play in the NHL, winning a Stanley Cup with the Washington Capitals in 2018 before coming to the Blues prior to last season.

There has been no date announced for the start of Comets training camp, though it is likely to start within the next couple of weeks towards the end of January.

The AHL regular season is set to begin on February 5.
