BRIDGEWATER, N.Y. – A car caught fire on Route 20 in Bridgewater just before 8 a.m. Thursday after a head-on collision between two vehicles.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office says 32-year-old Jessica Mund, of Morrisville, was traveling east at an unsafe speed and when she crossed into the other lane, hitting a Jeep driven by 62-year-old Lisa Wellenstein of West Winfield.

Both vehicles suffered severe damage from the crash, and Mund’s Subaru Legacy actually caught on fire.

Both women also suffered injuries and were taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Mund received citations for speeding, moving from a lane unsafely and aggravated unlicensed operation. The tickets are returnable town of Bridgewater court at a later date.
