UTICA, N.Y. – Carbone Buick GMC of Utica presented a check for $10,000 to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation on Monday ahead of the Utica Roadrunners' upcoming 5K fundraiser to benefit the group.
Tunnel to Towers was created in memory of Stephen Siller, a firefighter killed on 9/11. Now, the organization pays off mortgages or builds smart homes for families of first responders, military and veterans.
The Utica Roadrunners are hosting the 5K run on Sunday, Aug. 22, starting near MVCC in Utica at 8 a.m.
"The community support that we've seen for this event is incredible. Bringing people together and that's what running is all about too. Getting behind a cause and helping out the community," said Andrew Rubino of the Utica Roadrunners.
