FRANKFORT N.Y.- This weekend would have been the weekend of the Herkimer County Fair and The New York State Fair. Both Fairs were cancelled this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. But, there still is some action at the Herkimer County Fairgrounds.
"Carnival Eats" presented by Gilette Shows normally serves the Herkimer County Fair and is hosting food trucks at the fairgrounds this weekend.
The Massachusetts based company went from fair to fair that normally they would be at, including Herkimer County.
There is a variety of food including fried dough, pizza, french fries, ice cream, cotton candy, to name a few of those favorites.
Gerry Elthorp, the Treasurer and Manager of the Herkimer County Fair says even though there is no fair this year, there still is a way to get people out.
"We did want to get people out during fair week. It was very disappointing not to have a county fair this year, so this was our way to get the people out to our county fair. I think it's important to know that all the fairs are in the same boat together and if you can sponsor anything on your county fair, please help the county fairs by supporting any event that happens at the county fairs this year." said Elthorp.
"Carnival Eats" continues Saturday August 22, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday August 23, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Masks are required, except for sit down dining. Take-Out is also available.
