UTICA, N.Y. -- The city of Utica has filed a second "show cause" order in state Supreme Court regarding the Olbiston Apartments.
The order was filed Tuesday.
At this point, the mayor says three floors of the Genesee Street building are impacted. The residents of those floors were told to move out or find an apartment on a lower floor.
The roof is leaking and the walls are deteriorating, according to the mayor. The city acknowledges that management at the site is not the problem.
“They've been cooperative. they're doing the best they can do. they just don’t have the tools or the resources of an owner who is neglecting the building and the people,” said Palmieri.
Oneida County Emergency Services had been on hand this week helping the displaced residents.
