ILION, N.Y. – The First Presbyterian Church in Ilion raised $2,500 for the Ilion Free Public Library this summer, and presented them with the check Thursday afternoon.
The church held a chicken barbecue to raise the money. The Rev. Rick Riggle says the church chose to donate to the library because it’s a place that benefits the entire community.
“We have made every effort to become more embedded into the community,” said Riggle. For me, libraries are all about community; it's a place everybody is welcome in, so, it seems like a natural place for us to do it,” said Riggle.
The library is located on West Street in Ilion.
