ROME – The city of Rome has announced two new initiatives to attract more people to the downtown area this summer.
In the past, there was the Positively Rome Farmer’s Market on Wednesdays at Franklyn Field, and there was the Friday market near Fort Stanwix. Now, the city and Positively Rome are collaborating to create a Downtown Market on the City Hall Green, located at 200 W. Dominick St.
The market will be every Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., from June 15 through Oct. 5.
“Here on the green at City Hall, which fits with our downtown revitalization initiative objectives of a four-season green space entertainment year-round, using that venue for public gatherings,” said Rome Mayor Jacqueline Izzo.
The city has also announced PACT (Parks Art Culture Tourism) First Fridays, an event series taking place on the first Friday of July, August, September and October. The event series is a collaboration between local organizations, and it will take place on Dominick Street and throughout downtown Rome.
The Downtown Market and PACT First Fridays are expected to draw more attention to the downtown area of Rome.
