ROME, N.Y. -- Republican candidate in the race for the 22nd Congressional District, Claudia Tenney, toured the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Rome.
The memorial was originally slated to open memorial day, but was delayed due to the Covid-19 crisis. Phase two will add memorial stones dedicated to women who are veterans and veterans effected by Agent Orange.
Tenney paid her respects and also surveyed the site's progress with the project coordinator.
Claudia Tenney spoke about how humbled she was to tour the memorial, "It was an honor to come to this beautiful memorial to our Vietnam Veterans. As the mother of a United States Marine, their tremendous sacrifices and those of all our veterans have made to protect our freedom deserve our unending gratitude."
"Rick Falcone, Mark Jennings, and their team’s work is a welcome and fitting tribute to our Vietnam veterans," Tenney added.
