Cold Case: Police search for new information on 1983 murder at New Hartford hotel

New York State Police continue to investigate cold cases, and are looking for any new information on a murder that happened 36 years ago in New Hartford.

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. – New York State Police continue to investigate cold cases, and are looking for any new information on a murder that happened 36 years ago in New Hartford.

On the morning of Jan, 15, 1983, state police found Hector Ambrosi, 47, dead in a room at the Ramada Inn on Burrstone Road. Ambrosi, who worked in the used car business, was shot to death in the hotel room and police say jewelry was stolen from him.

Police say Ambrosi was also known by the nicknames Rock, Tore and Etore, and has ties to Syracuse, Albany and Florida.
