UTICA- Genesee Street in Utica was lined with people on Saturday for the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade despite frigid temperatures and some snowflakes.
Paul MacEnroe of New Hartford walked alongside the parade as his son Alex marched with his judo club. Alex says he was cold only because he didn’t have earmuffs.
It would take a lot more than earmuffs to keep warm though the 90 minute parade.
Dave Betty of Frankfort brought his two young daughters to the parade. His youngest, Madelyn, just three years old, was bundled up in a blanket.
One person who didn’t mind the cold temperatures at all was this year’s Grand Marshal, John Sullivan, whom we caught up at the end of the parade, “It was fantastic, the friends we saw along the way, it was just fantastic.”
Sullivan was joined by his wife Debbie who said it was a thrill to walk in the parade, “I felt like Cinderella and I felt like everybody was hugging us and I was hugging them back.”
