SYRACUSE, N.Y. - At the upcoming 2020 The Basketball Tournament (TBT) to be held entirely in Columbus, Ohio, Boeheim's Army will not be exclusively Syracuse Orange basketball alumni as it traditionally has.
As first reported by Donna Ditota of The Post-Standard, Colgate alum Will Rayman has been added to the team's roster in the wake of former SU forward Tyler Lydon being forced to drop out due to a recently sustained injury.
Rayman, a 6'9" forward himself, is expected to add offensive range and rebounding ability to the largely Orange contingent.
A New York City native, Rayman just completed one of the most decorated Raiders basketball careers this past season.
He's the only player in Colgate program history to record at least 1,800 points (1,836) and 900 rebounds.
In 134 games (a Colgate record) and 31.9 minutes per game through his four year career, Rayman averaged 13.7 points per game, 6.7 rebounds per game and 1.34 assists per game. He shot 44% from the field, 40.1% from beyond the arc and 74.2% from the free-throw line.
Named the 2020 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, Rayman was also a 2020 All-Patriot League First Team selection.
He was twice on the Patriot League All-Defensive Team (2019, 2020) and twice on the All-Patriot League Second Team (2018, 2019).
Rayman is also Colgate's all-time leader in career starts (128), minutes played (4,272), freshman season 3-pt. field goals made (65), and freshman single-game scoring (34 pts).
He is second all-time in Raiders' career scoring.
The Colgate grad will join Boeheim's Army after beginning his collegiate career at the Carrier Dome against Syracuse on November 11, 2016.
Rayman and No. 3 Boeheim's Army gets its quest for $1-million in the 24-team TBT started on Tuesday, July 7 at 4 p.m. from Nationwide Arena against the winner of a Round of 24 game between No. 14 Heartfire and No. 19 Men of Mackey.
The game will be televised on ESPN.
