COLUMBUS, OH - Survive and advance. Much like teams seem to do while wearing the Syracuse Orange uniforms, Boeheim's Army (BA), a team made up of mostly Orange basketball alums did just that in their 2020 The Big Tournament (TBT) debut, Wednesday.

No. 3 Boeheim's Army held on late to defeat No. 19 Men of Mackey, a team comprised of Purdue alumni, 76-69 in the Round of 16 to advance to the Elite 8.

Eric Devendorf lead the 'Cuse alumni (along with Colgate grad, WIll Rayman) with 20 points, while Donte Greene chipped in 16 points and nine rebounds.

Devendorf came out of the gates strong, going on a stretch where he scored 10 of Boeheim's Army last 13 points midway through the first half.

Malachi Richardson, playing in his first TBT game, hit a three-pointer from the left corner to beat the buzzer in the second quarter to put Boeheim's Army up by ten at halftime. He finished with 15 points on the afternoon.

Men of Mackey came out hot in the second half, going on an 8-0 run to kick things off in the third quarter and bring the BA lead down to two.

In the fourth, the Boilermakers alumni briefly took a one-point lead off a Justin Dentmon three-pointer with 6:43 remaining, but Devendorf and company were able to recover quickly and re-take the lead just 18 seconds later for good.

With just under four minutes remaining in the contest, Elam Ending went into effect.

The clock was shut off and teams were given a target score of 76 points to win the game.

Eight points were added to the BA's leading score of 68 at the time to come up with the target score for the first team wins scenario.

Brandon Triche hit a free throw to reach the 76 points total and end the game.

Colgate grad Will Rayman made his debut in orange in the contest, playing 11:15 with four points, and six rebounds.

Boeheim's Army will take on No. 22 Sideline Cancer in the Elite 8 round of the 24-team tournament at Nationwide Arena on Saturday, July 11 at 4 p.m.

The game will be televised on ESPN. Check your local listing for more information.
