ROCHESTER, N.Y. - For the second time in the span of a week, the Utica Comets beat the Rochester Americans at Blue Cross Arena, Wednesday, this time by a 3-1 score.
In the win, Michael DiPietro made 36 saves for the Comets.
Stefan LeBlanc's second of the season game Utica a 1-0 lead at 15:53 of the first period.
That lead would last until a power play goal from Taylor Leier at 5:43 of the second.
For the second straight time against the Amerks, Sven Baertschi played the hero as his goal off an odd-man rush gave the Comets the lead back with just over five minutes remaining in the third and it was one they would not give up.
Tyler Graovac iced it late with an empty-netter as the Comets got a big two points in a north division contest.
The Comets travel down to Charlotte to face the Checkers in the first of a back-to-back on Friday at 7 p.m.
