Laval, QC - Nikolay Goldobin registered a hat trick, while Michael DiPietro made 41 saves in goal as the Comets got back in the win column against the Laval Rocket at Place Bell, Saturday.
The Comets struck first in the opening fame with Jonah Gadjovich putting in a feed from Kole Lind to extend his scoring streak to three straight games and giving Utica a 1-0 lead.
In the second, Goldobin scored his first of the game with a tap-in on the doorstep following a shot from Carter Camper for a power play goal to extend the lead to two.
Just under one minute later, the Rocket brought it back to a one-goal lead. David Sklenicka ripped a slap shot over the shoulder of DiPietro. A few minutes later, Laval tied it up thanks to a Riley Barber tally.
After a Comets goal was overturned, the teams headed into the third tied at 2-2. Goldobin broke that deadlock with his second of the night, this one coming off a rebound from a Mitch Eliot 8:41 in.
He iced it late with an empty netter to complete the hat trick and send the Comets home with a split north of the border.
The Comets are back in action on Wednesday night when they host the Syracuse Crunch. Puck drop at the Adirondack Bank Center is at 7 p.m.
