UTICA, N.Y - With two power play goals and 28 saves from Michael DiPietro, the Utica Comets were able to fight off two deficits to beat the Laval Rocket 3-2 at the Adirondack Bank Center, Wednesday.
Otto Leskinen got the Rocket on the board just 2:38 into the game. Jonah Gadjovich tied it a one with 2:24 remaining in the opening frame on the power play.
With 11:17 to play in the second, Yannick Veilleux put Laval back on top with a power play goal of his own. Again, the Comets knotted it up late in the period with Sven Baertschi scoring Utica's second goal with a man advantage.
Just 36 seconds into the third, Reid Boucher gave the Comets their first lead of the game and with three different penalty kills, Utica was able to hang on.
The Comets are next in action on Friday night against the Syracuse Crunch on the road. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
