UTICA- The Civil Service Commission voted Thursday night, on how they will continue their hiring process for fire chief for the city of Utica.
The commission decided to make the application process open competitive, meaning they would look at outside candidates. They also decided to open it up to promotional candidates (people within the fire department), which would take precedence over the open competitive candidates.
This means candidiates would have to do simultaneous testing.
The next meeting to decide criteria for the testing will be on August 15th.
