ROME, N.Y. – Redeemer Church partnered with the Compassion Coalition to offer free fresh produce to local residents on Tuesday.
There were fruits and vegetables, as well as milk at the giveaway, which took place at the church on North Washington Street in Rome.
The Rev. Mark Schilling this is a time for people to come together and help those in need.
“In moments like this, you start to cling to what's real, what's strong, what's lasting and you see the economy moving around and health moving around. I think people are looking to grab on to something solid. We're here as a church saying we put our faith in god and believe we can get through this with god's strength,” said the Rev. Mark Schilling.
The food drive was held until 4 p.m.
