UTICA – Closing arguments in the Kaitlyn Conley murder retrial are set to begin at 9:30 a.m. in Oneida County Court. The prosecution and the defense wrapped up their cases on Wednesday as their final witnessed testified.
Twenty-four-year-old Conley of Sauquoit is charged with second-degree murder for allegedly poisoning her chiropractor boss, Dr. Mary Yoder, to death in 2015 using the common gout medicine Colchicine. Conley’s first trial ended with a hung jury in May.
On Wednesday the prosecution motioned to dismiss the second and third charges of falsifying business records so that the jury could solely focus on the second-degree murder charge in their deliberations. However, the lesser charge first-degree manslaughter has now been added for the jury to consider.
