Construction for Hamilton College's new indoor practice facility began in January and crews have been working around the clock to get the building ready by November 1.
Here's an updated look inside and around the new practice facility.
In addition to a playing field area, the 28,000 square foot building will include an enclosed batting cage for baseball and softball practice.
This is a multi-sport facility with the same turf that you find on their outside fields.
Hamilton's Athletic Director Jon Hind said with the unpredictable weather here in central New York, athletes are excited to have a backup plan.
"It's gonna lend us the opportunity to basically take everything we do outside and do it indoors," said Hind. "It's a full half of a soccer field, roughly 60 yards wide by 50 yards deep, so we can fit a half soccer field, half football. We can play field hockey, lacrosse in there. We can bring a lot of our club programming in there. We can play intramural and recreation in there. We can move our throwers from track in there Its gonna do a whole lot for us."
It's great for local businesses as well. The building was designed by Alesia & Crewell Architects of New Hartford and is being built by Gaetano Construction of Utica.
