UTICA, NY-- A staple in downtown Utica is going through a major transformation.
The former Radisson Hotel Utica-Center will undergo a more than $6 million renovation. During the renovation process it will be called the Hotel at Utica Centre, but it will become the Delta Hotel by Marriott this spring.
"The entire property is completely modernized there is not a piece of furniture that hasn't been replaced, said Kevin Tuohy, the general manager. "Delta's tagline is 'Delta is simple made perfect,' this property speaks to that.
But before it becomes 'perfect' the hotel is going through some big changes. The grand ballroom, the former Garden Grille, the bar and the lobby have all been gutted.
"What used to be our Encore Lounge, our bar and grill, we're converting into a shade concept," he said. "We had some upper levels there that of been leveled completely different feel, it will be American cuisine with local bar offerings."
Tuohy explained that all seven meeting rooms will get and updated look. One of the former meeting rooms will be changed into a pantry.
"For our elite platinum Marriott rewards members to enjoy complementary items," he said.
The Grand Ballroom will receive updated light fixtures, including chandeliers, along with new carpets and a movable dance floor. The former Garden Grille will become a junior ballroom.
"Our junior ballroom, we're adding about 3000 ft.² of meeting space, we'll have 14,000 ft.² of meeting space when it's all complete as well," Tuohy said.
All 162 guest rooms have been updated with new amenities, including smart TV's, high speed internet and a modern design.
The project along with new signage, should be complete by this May.
