COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. – After 31 years, a well-known employee in the Cooperstown Central School District has retired – with a memorable send-off by staff, administrators and students.
Bob Meehan, a custodian at the Cooperstown Jr./Sr. High School said goodbye as cars lined the circle of the school to wish him farewell.
Bob’s wife, Becky Meehan, is a former employee of the school, and says Bob was well-liked by everyone, and the students even found a special way to recognize one year.
“As his wife and a former employee of the district I can honestly say he made a difference at the school. One of his fondest memories was having a yearbook dedicated to him and a peer,” said Becky.
All schools in New York have been closed since March due to the coronavirus pandemic. Those who came to help send Bob off practiced appropriate social distancing.
