MARCY, N.Y. – Construction at the Cree facility in Marcy is on schedule, and crews are currently working on the framework of the main fab building.
Officials say the final beam is expected to be placed in the main building in the next few months, and the company will begin moving tools into the clean room space by the spring of 2021.
Construction has also progressed on the administrative building and some of the interior, including placing slabs and inserting mechanical and utility systems.
Cree CEO Gregg Lowe visited Marcy on Friday, to tour the site and see how construction is coming along.
The new silicon carbide manufacturing facility is expected to bring 600 new jobs to the area, while working with local partners like SUNY Polytechnic Institute to provide internships for local students.
