WESTMORELAND, N.Y. -- A fire destroyed an old church on East Main Street in Westmoreland Monday morning.
The fire broke out around 6 a.m. at 7389 E. Main St.
A neighbor told NEWSChannel 2 the church has been vacant for about a year, and he was in negotiations to purchase the building.
The Oneida County Sheriff's Office also responded to the scene.
A portion of the road is currently closed from Route 233 to the firehouse.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
