VERNON, N.Y. – A Syracuse woman was issued a speeding ticket after losing control of her vehicle and crashing into a tractor-trailer on Route 365 in Vernon Monday afternoon.
Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene around 1:30 p.m.
According to the sheriff’s office, 24-year-old Madison H. Beckwith was driving her Dodge Durango westbound as heavy snow made for slippery roads Monday afternoon. Her speed combined with the road conditions caused her to overcorrect and slide into the other lane.
Beckwith collided head-on with an oncoming tractor-trailer, driven by 57-year-old Jeffery J. Patterson of Pennsylvania.
Part of Route 365 was closed after the accident to clear the scene.
Beckwith was taken to the hospital with neck stomach, wrist and leg injuries.
Patterson did not suffer any injuries in the crash.
Beckwith was issued a ticket for unreasonable speed not prudent to the weather conditions. She will appear in Town of Vernon Court at a later date.
