ALBANY, N.Y. – During his daily coronavirus briefing Friday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said he will be issuing an executive order mandating the New York State Board of Elections to automatically mail residents an application for an absentee ballot.
The application will allow New Yorkers to vote via absentee ballot during the June 23 primary election to avoid going to crowded polling locations.
"I am issuing an Executive Order to ensure every New York voter automatically receives a postage-paid application for an absentee ballot, because no New Yorker should have to choose between their health and their right to vote," said Cuomo.
The governor confirmed 8,130 new positive cases Friday, bringing the state total to 271,590.
