NEW YORK (AP) - New York gubernatorial candidate Cynthia Nixon says Gov. Andrew Cuomo should initiate a corruption probe in the wake of guilty verdicts at a corruption trial.
Nixon, a Democrat, spoke outside Manhattan federal court Friday after a jury Thursday convicted a former school president Cuomo had praised as an economic guru and three developers who had contributed to his 2014 re-election campaign.
Nixon says Cuomo should direct that corruption in Albany be investigated. She says he should also let his attorney general conduct a probe.
Nixon spoke after a former president of the State University of New York's Polytechnic Institute and others were convicted in the Buffalo Billion redevelopment scandal.
Cuomo, also a Democrat, said the state has taken steps to prevent similar corruption, but it's impossible to prevent it all.
