DEERFIELD- Officials with the Deerfield Fire Department say a car hit a pedestrian on Cosby Manor Road, Saturday.
State Police say a 6-year-old girl was struck by a car. She is going to okay, but was rushed to the hospital.
This happened on Cosby Manor Road in Deerfield just after 11:00am on Saturday. Investigators say the girl was walking with a friend when she turned and walked into the roadway right in front of a Jeep. Police say the 24-year-old male driver swerved to avoid hitting the girl, but was unable to.
She was rushed to St. Elizabeth Medical Center with what police say are non-life-threatening injuries. No tickets were issued. The driver did agree to be screened for drugs and alcohol and it was found there were none in his system. Police the cause appears to be pedestrian error.
