OLD FORGE, N.Y. -- Demolition is officially underway at Enchanted Forest Water Safari, where two water slides are being replaced.
The park closed on Monday and Serengeti Surf Hill was demolished this week as crews started the $3 million expansion project. Mount Killermanjaro is expected to be demolished in the coming weeks.

The project includes replacing the two slides with three new attractions.

“Next year is going to be so exciting. We haven’t had a new ride. The last one was The Curse of the Silverback. This will be another mat-racing ride and it will have some loops in it, then the tubes will open up and it will be a flat racer,” said Enchanted Forest Water Safari owner Kelly Greene.
Crews are expected to complete the project in time for next summer, but it’s a race against the clock as the winter months approach.
“There are certain things that we have to get on the ground. Obviously we have to do all of the demolition. Then all of those water pumps and infrastructure are underground. So we have to get the beginnings of that going and then we will have a big job in the spring,” Greene said.
The water safari wouldn’t release the renderings of the three new slides just yet – but the slides aren’t the only attractions at the park getting a facelift.
The park’s iconic Paul Bunyan statue will see change for the next season as well. It’s getting repainted after a sand bath, and the new pain is expected to be completed within the next few months.
