UTICA, N.Y. – Demolition has started on the former Sunset Avenue elementary school in south Utica.
The Kelberman Center plans to build an apartment complex at the site, featuring 60 units with 12 apartments for individuals with autism.
The plan has created some tension in the community as residents voiced concerns on the size of project during public forums.
The Utica Common Council still has a resolution to re-endorse the grant application in committee.
