UTICA, N.Y. – Crews have started demolition within the new downtown hospital footprint, and the first to go was an old two-story brick garage on Columbia Street.
The Utica codes department says this was the most recent permit application they received, which was quickly approved because the garage had no utility connections.
Eight applications are still awaiting demolition approval, and the city is waiting on applications for 13 other properties to be submitted.
A group opposing the downtown hospital will appear in front of an Albany judge Thursday, Oct. 31, to voice concerns outlined in its lawsuit against MVHS and the city of Utica. The judge will hear arguments from both sides.
