ROME, N.Y. -- Friday morning the city of Rome made it official – the parking garage on the corner of Liberty and George streets will be coming down.
The demolition is all a part of the Rome Downtown Revitalization Initiative.
Once demolished a new temporary parking lot will be constructed.
The $1 million contract is with Bronze Contracting out of Remsen.
It should be complete by June 30.
In addition to the parking lot, Mayor Jackie Izzo says they would eventually like to put an apartment building there as well.
