MARCY, N.Y.-- When DiNitto Farms began operating three generations ago, they regularly milked and cared for 100 cows.
Now, the family farm manages 1,200 dairy cows and was recently named Dairy Farmers of America's 2018 Northeast Area "Member of Distinction."
DiNitto's was one of seven farms nationwide to receive the award, and representatives from the farm were invited to a dairy conference in Kansas City, Kansas to accept the honor.
DFA comprises more than 14,500 farms across the country and officials select the winning farms based on leadership, innovation and community engagement.
"We try to keep up with technology," Terri DiNitto, who works on the farm said. "The better you can do that, the easier it is and the better it is for your cows."
