SYLVAN BEACH, N.Y. – With some help from the community, Sylvan Beach Fire Department was able to rescue a dog that fell through the ice on Oneida Lake Wednesday.
Fire Chief Rick Johnson and Lt. Austin Brown arrived in an airboat launched from Three Pines Marina just after the dog fell.
Rescuers went into the water and saved the dog. The animal was transported to shore and treated for exposure.
North Bay Fire Department was also called in to assist with shore command.
A post to the fire department Facebook page reads, “This is a prime example of the community helping their local fire departments. We could not do it without all your support.”
