UTICA N.Y.- St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church in Utica had to cancel their annual feast this year due to COVID-19.
Friday, the church on Tilden Ave in Utica held a Drive Thru event for people who love the church's Italian food.
There was a Drive Thru Pasta Fagioli and Meatball Tunnel sub event.
With no festival this year, St. Anthony & St. Agnes found a way to get people out who may have been cooped up in their houses for months.
The church's Youth Minister says despite the festival being cancelled this year, St. Anthony & St. Agnes still found a way to give back to the community.
"We really just started coming back to church a few weeks ago with limited attendance. We've missed out on our parish festival that we would've had on June 13th-14th. So, this was something that we kind of came up with as an alternative. People couldn't be here, we did our raffle still and we figured this would be a nice way for the community to come out and get something good to eat." said Rich Hensel the Youth Minister at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church.
Proceeds from the Drive Thru event benefit church activity programs like faith formation and youth ministry.
