ROME, N.Y. – A Rome man was charged after police found drugs and a gun in a car following a hit-and-run crash Friday night.
Scott Harrison, 52, was stopped on North George Street around 10:45 p.m. Friday, in a black car that police believe was involved in a hit-and-run.
The arresting officers noticed a loaded magazine on the driver’s seat after detaining Harrison for his alleged involvement in the crash. Officers then searched the vehicle and found a loaded .380 semi-automatic handgun with the serial code removed in the center console.
Upon further search of the vehicle, officers also found roughly 3.3 grams of cocaine and $4,801 in cash.
Harrison was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a weapon. He was taken to Rome Police Department to await arraignment.
Police say more charges are possible.
