EARLVILLE, N.Y. – A man was arrested for allegedly setting fire to the Lighthouse Community Church on South Main Street in the village of Earlville.
Brian C. Carver, 39, is charged with third-degree arson, a C felony.
Troopers were called to the church around 10:32 p.m. Wednesday, where they found the structure engulfed in flames.
Carver was found on South Main Street, not far from the church, and arrested. He was taken to Chenango Memorial Hospital to be treated for minor injuries. He has since been released.
Carver was processed and arraigned remotely at the Norwich state police department. He was issued an appearance ticket and released. He is due back in court May 13.
