UTICA, N.Y. -- A water main break on Square Street in Utica led to an early dismissal for students at Martin Luther King Elementary School.
The school is about three blocks from where the break happened.
Construction crews were tapping into a line, when they noticed a problem with the tap.
The Mohawk Valley Water Authority opened the fire hydrant to release some of the water from underground.
There is no boil water advisory, but the water was temporarily turned off to make repairs.
Square Street, Johnson Park, and Brinckerhoff Avenue-area customers were affected by the break.
