Early voting across New York state is in its 3rd day. Poll sites in surrounding counties reporting record numbers. Long lines and long wait times have been synonymous with early voting. Voter said it's a sign the community is looking for a change.

"A lot of people want a change, some people don't want a change, But I feel we have more people that want a change than those who don't want a change," said a voter.

Candidates for the 22nd Congressional Race said the voter turnout is a positive sign.

"I'm excited about it, I think that its a good thing that people feel safe," said Claudia Tenney.

"It's a good sign for our democracy seeing such a high voter turnout. And I'm hopeful that that's going to go well for our campaign. I encourage more people to come out," said Congressman Anthony Brindisi.

NEWSCHannel 2 asked both candidates what they were saying to voters just 8 days before the election.

"I feel that this election is really shaping up to be a clear choice. To me who's a small business owner, I've struggled as a single mom. I fought against the establishment and the wealthiest and most powerful people in people in our community and stood up for our community. Versus someone who was handpicked by the establishment. Helped by the wealthiest and most powerful people. And never faced a primary in his own party. Who's gone down to Washington promising to be a moderate and turns out he's one of the members of the far left and bringing our country to the point where he is surrendering to these socialist policies just like he did in the Assembly. I think people have a clear choice and stand for what we believe in. Or do we end up with the socialist policies he's been voting for." said Tenney.

"There's a real contrast in this election between myself who has shown up in this election and over the last four years, Listened to the constituents, got things done with both sides. Versus my opponent who has been more on the extreme side of things. We wanna make sure that we are bringing people together. We're in very divided times. I think I'm the candidate who is better able to do that," said Brindisi.

Election day is November 3rd.
