We lucked out with picture perfect weather for the first weekend of the Great New
York State Fair. Sunday's weather will be similar to conditions we had this Saturday.
Sunday, expect partly cloudy skies with mild temperatures in the mid 70s. We also have
very low humidity, which means it will feel very comfortable tomorrow.
This nice weather is all thanks to a very strong high pressure system right on top of
us. What this does is force the air to sink, warm, and evaporate the moisture in the
air. The result of this is plenty of sunshine and drier air.
This will be the case for our weather on Monday as well. Expect even more sunshine and
highs still lower than normal in the mid 70s. We will also have very low dew point
temperatures, which means lower humidity.
The dew point is the temperature at which the moisture in the air will condense into
dew, like you see on your car in the morning. The air temperature must drop to the dew
point in order to achieve this. Putting this together, the lower the dew point, the
further it is away from the air temperature, the cooler the air temperature would need
to drop to form dew, and therefor the lower the humidity is.
Clouds increase throughout the day on Tuesday as a weak warm front approaches. This
brings warm and moist air, rising temperatures into the upper 70s. We don't expect
rain until late Tuesday night.
The rain chance continues Wednesday as a cold front moves through. This will bring
scattered thunderstorms and showers. Highs still warm in the upper 70s.
Thursday and Friday, light rain showers linger as a second weak cold front moves
through. Highs in the upper 70s, which is normal for this time of year.
