YORKVILLE, NY - Let’s face it, last year was not much fun.
The village of Yorkville made sure that wasn’t the case Thursday with their first-ever Family Fun Night. The event was the kickoff for their weekly summer concert series that takes place every Thursday night at Robak Park.
Keith James: the Utica Piano Guy was the opening night’s entertainment.
In addition to the music, penny the clown was there doing face painting. Hungry? Louie Zeina from the Grapevine Restaurant was there serving up some delicious food. There was also free ice cream from Stewart’s, and a bounce house for all the little ones.
Yorkville Village Trustee Adam Sassone says it was good to see people out having fun again.
“I know we've all been inside for the past 18 months and a lot of municipalities are canceling their parks programs, or their concert series. We just wanted to let the community know that we're here. We're back and we're stronger than ever. It's been a great turnout, everybody has a smile on their face and I think that's something we all needed”.
Perhaps the highlight of the hot summer evening was when the Yorkville Fire Department cooled things down a little bit and sprayed the kids with a fire hose from their ladder truck.
