WHITESBORO- A Father's Day Chicken Barbecue at the Whitestown American Legion sold out in just 20 minutes.
Members with the legion say they sold about 220 chicken barbecue's on Sunday afternoon.
The money from the barbecue goes to the Alivia Paige Moylan Memorial Scholarship fund. The 12-year-old girl died in an ATV accident in May. The scholarship will be awarded to a Whitesboro graduating senior whose major will be in healthcare.
Members for the legion say, the community has always been a big help.
"It's wonderful," said Rich Abel with the Whitestown American Legion. "The community here and the family here at Whitestown Post is unique. We are one family, we deal with everything as a group and we try to help strengthen each other and move on from any circumstance that goes on."
Abel says their hope was to raise about $1,200.
