UTICA, N.Y. - 'Feed Our Vets,' a non-profit organization that helps feed and support local veterans, is looking for a new space.
'Feed Our Vets' is currently located is 205 Geneese Street in Utica, on the first floor of the building. The first floor was purchased by PathStone Development Corporation.
Richard Synek, the founder of 'Feed Our Vets,' says he received a letter from PathStone stating that they have to be out of the building by Dec. 16th, but it's just temporary because they are doing construction of the building.
The letter says 'Feed Our Vets' must temporarily vacate the space, and the planned construction period will take approximately 10 months to complete, so returning full-time to the property may not be possible until Oct. 2020 at the earliest. The letter also says PathStone will set aside roughly 3,500 square feet of the first floor space for 'Feed Our Vets' and upon construction completion, the organization will be able to return, rent free.
Synek says he understands it's not permanent, but he will still be looking for a new place for his organization.
"We were offered a smaller space than what we have here but it's not until next October, 2020 and it's a major inconvenience for us because of the logistics we have, and all of the food, thousands of dollars of food and equipment, to come back to a smaller space it's gonna be kind of hard," Synek said.
