NEW YORK MILLS – They aren’t in their newest home quite yet, and Feed Our Vets is already thinking about the future.
Next month, the not-for-profit food pantry for local veterans will open its doors in the Fitness Mill building in New York Mills after moving from Genesee Street in downtown Utica. The organization has a two-year lease at its new location.
Now Feed Our Vets is using Facebook to try to raise $500,000 to purchase its own building.
“We don't want to move again. We need our own building to expand other programs that we are working on - especially a couple of business opportunities,” says Rich Synek, founder and executive director.
Synek says 100% of the funds raised will be used for the purchase, update and maintenance of a building so FOV can focus on feeding hungry veterans without having to worry about paying rent. The organization is backed by donors and does not receive any government funding.
