COOPERSTOWN – One of the candidates in the contested race for Otsego County Sheriff has conceded.
Democrat Bob Fernandez, a former State Trooper, was challenging incumbent Richard Devlin.
The Otsego County Board of Elections has Devlin ahead of Fernandez by 821 votes with only 387 absentee ballots left to count.
“I was honored to have the chance to run for sheriff in Otsego County and I would like to thank all of the bipartisan support for our campaign,” Fernandez told AllOtsego.com. “I also would like to thank the campaign team itself… (and) the Democratic committee, which allowed me to run on their line.”
On Friday, Sheriff Devlin told NewsChannel 2 Fernandez called him to congratulate him on his victory.
