MARCY, N.Y. – The final site plan was approved for the Cree chip fab facility coming to Marcy.
Steve DiMeo, president of Mohawk Valley Edge, says the manufacturing plant is starting to take shape, and they expect to have concrete on the ground by April.
“By the end of the year, the building will be up and fully enclosed and working on the inside,” said DiMeo.
There are also opportunities for expanding the site.
“The Cree site can handle another fab on their parcel and the balance of the property could accommodate another million square feet of clean room space,” he said.
The silicon carbide wafer manufacturing facility will be ready to receive major equipment on site next spring.
