Cause of West End Auto in Utica unknown, started near vehicle lifts

UTICA, N.Y. – Fire investigators are looking into what caused a fire at a Utica business Monday night.

Crews responded to West End Auto on Oriskany Street West in Utica shortly after 8 p.m.

Officials say the fire started by the area near the vehicle lifts.

The fire was confined to two mechanics bay work areas and the entire ceiling above those bays.

Utica police, National Grid and the DPW assisted in the incident.

It's not clear yet how much damage was actually done to the auto garage.

No one was injured in the fire.
